Default Graduated Ensign challenge, GURPS Star Trek 'SNW' era

Greetings GURPS fans,

Okay in that other thread where I asked about Piloting compared to shiphanding people were 'discussing' the GCA and making characters for the "Star Trek" universe using the GCA or GURPS.

Here is my request, 'challenge', or invitation :
Make a character using the GCA who just graduated from Starfleet Academy and is a new Ensign ready their first ship assignment.
These new Academy graduates should be between the ages of 20 to 27.

In my campaign right now their ship is at Earth during the week of Starfleet Academy graduation of 2262. (June 22, 262 to be exact)

Guidelines, Parameters are:

Character points between 170 and 195

Races available or possible are: Human, Andorian, Barzan, Caitian(Cat-like race), Deltans(seen in STTMP), Denobulan, Edosians(three amed, three legged race), Saurians, Tellarites, and Vulcans

I Use the same default Advantages and disadvantages that are suggested in the 'Prime Directive' templates, with these additions:

Advantages - Every Starfleet Character or NPC in the game has 'Federation Standard' as their native language and native cultural familiarty of ' FEDERATON Worlds, UFP

Disadvantages - Every character in my game setting has ' KLINGON, Klingon Ship Crews as a 30 point disadvantage.

The year is 2262 - that is about halfway between "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and "Star Trek: The Original series" in the timeline.

Our next game session is on Sunday February 25th and I will give my players a choice of just graduated Ensigns to add to their crew.

They need 23 new crewmembers to fill out the crew.

The positions or roles they need filled are:

3 Enginerring specialists...

1 Engineering Damage Control Specialist

1 Transporters Operator specialist

1 Helm Officer who is also a Shuttlecraft pilot...

2 Nurses

4 to 5 Ordnance speciaiists...

8 Science Lab Technicians or specialists...

3 Security /Tactical Specialists or 'Security Guards'...

I am curious and interested what others can create...

One quick question: Have these people done anything to make Klingon ship crews to target them specifically? Because I always took "face the enemies of my organization" to be part of Duty, not as an Enemy. I only apply Enemy to those likely to become specifically targeted (like prominent snipers, war criminals, movement leaders, etc.).

There was a War with the Klingons within the past 5 years - technically still enemies.
They are an 'enemy' on all the chareacter sheets so we have more points for skills. Don't other people do that sort of thing?
If Kromm himself tells me I'm wrong then I'll change what I;ve been doing - but the 'Hero ship' crew was operating near Klingon space quite often and has been in battle against Klinons...

Do you have a character in mind?

And it has to be done in GCA right? I've got no interest in picking up gca, but I might be able to give you a few characters in PDF or text form.

If you think you can do it without using the 'GCA" thats cool - just means you are more skilled at quick math than I am.

I would prefer 'text' I can see in the thread - "pdf' only if its easy to save and download

"An 'Enemy' is an NPC, group of NPCs, or organization that actively works against you, personally, on your adventures."

For a character who takes the Klingons as an Enemy, are the Klingons actively working against that character personally?

If Klingons are just a problem for every Starfleet officer, then they're just part of the Duty. If the Klingons know your name and are actively working against you personally, that's an Enemy. If the Klingons know your name and react badly to you but only work against you on bad reactions, that's a Reputation. If Klingons are a problem for everyone, not just Starfleet officers, that's just a campaign feature.

It seems like, it's reasonable enough if they all have it, although it's basically the same thing as just setting the point total 30 points higher and having occasional Klingon attacks just be a campaign feature - and if it's already on the existing character sheets, then these should match them.

This. I've always told my players that an Enemy has to be focused on you, personally and encouraged them to take them at Rival or Hunter with a lower FoA; any Enemies with a high FoA can swiftly become the focus of the campaign, which moves the focus onto the character with that Enemy.

I also highly discourage making entire agencies or governments Enemies, as again that causes the campaign to focus on them. Just like how GURPS World War II Allies templates don't have "Enemy: Nazi Germany Army" on their sheet, I wouldn't give fresh-from-the-Academy Federation ensigns "Enemy: Klingon Defense Force".

YMMV, but that's my five credits worth.

That said, I am seriously tempted to make an Edosian tactical officer, just because that race is just not available in STO....

..or you guys could just post a character... feel like my opening post got nitpicked to death...

Here is are two examples of a character sketch that came about after many dice charts and dice rolling. It is not a 'flashed out' character but the barest description to give ideas to the Gm and players:

ENGINEERING SPECIALIST/3 ALPHA shift
ADAMS, Grace 20 ENS(01) Human Female
ENGINEERING, Impulse Drives,

ENGINEERING SPECIALIST/4 BETA shift
Kristova 24 ENS (01) Tellarite Female
ENGINEERING, Life Support Repair, Warp Drives, Botany, Parachuting,

They are on the current crew list and the shifts referred to are the two day shifts.
