Default The Isle of Sedra is now LIVE on Kickstarter

The Isle of Sedra: Now LIVE on Kickstarter!

The Isle of Sedra is the next offering from Gaming Ballistic for The Fantasy Trip. Featuring three new books from David Pulver, it should provide something for everyone.

A setting guide to the land that includes Gwalathar and Ironskull Castle. The major cities and locations are expanded on, and factional alliances and conflicts provided, supporting all manner of adventures, including dark gothic fantasy, monster hunting, labyrinth and wilderness adventuring, and political intrigue.
  • The Barony of Gwalathar: A fertile land surrounded by deadly foes, and a vassal state to the Holy Kingdom of Elazar over the sea.
  • The Duchy of Thorn: A tormented ruler sees conspiracies and threats everywhere.
  • The Warlock Kingdoms: Five petty states ruled by sorcerers and inhuman lords, locked in a bloody conflict.
  • Vixengard: Fabled city of beasts, ruled by a kitsune queen said to be fabulously rich in spices.
  • The Emerald Mountains: Home to gold, gems … and dragons. There, the goblin prince Rykzaor schemes against his neighbors.
  • The City-State of Tamaz: Sitting on the fringe of the Red Desert and its Scorpion Sands, trading caravans and adventures cross the monster-haunted expanse.
  • The Reaver Coast: Dotted with the ancient burial mounds of the Sea Reavers and relics of times where they sacrificed and worshipped in the strange rites of serpent cults.

Ironskull Castle, Tower of the Moon, Vampire Hunter Belladonna, and Dragon Hunt! were all set on Sedra. The Citadel of Ice adventure was located slightly north of the island.

A setting is only as good as its adventures, and the campaign is funding two new ones.

Monster Hunter Belladonna is a programmed adventure which continues Bella’s confrontations of the dangerous creatures from the Isle of Sedra. Play as the lethal maid Belladonna, or don the crimson cloak of the members of the Duke's new Monster Hunter’s guild. It’s projected to run to 40 pages.

The Scorpion Labyrinth takes you to the city-state of Tamuz – first introduced in Dragon Hunt. It lies on the edge of the Red Desert, dotted with the ancient ruins of a long-lost empire. An innkeeper has discovered a mysterious crimson door engraved with a scorpion sigil under his humble inn. Is it filled with riches? Trouble? Or a bit of both? Already written and laid out, at 28 pages it lacks only art.

This campaign brings the number of books that Gaming Ballistic has produced for The Fantasy Trip to 19; nearly 600 Decks of Destiny style cards are available for quick reference at the table.

This is an ambitious project and needs your support. I would appreciate your pledge!

What size is the Sedra sourcebook? I can’t see a page count mentioned anywhere.

David has said that it will wind up on the order of 32 pages, but the "actual" for each manuscript has been running well over the original contracted value. So, "at least" 32 pages.

I'm going to be guesstimating MHB as coming in on the long end for a solo: 40-44 pages. Sedra will be at least 32, and I like beefy setting books, so if the campaign does well and he has any material he wants to cut for space, I'll likely say "let's include it."

Default Sedra Funded; Last Two Days of Campaign

Isle of Sedra: Funded, Last Two Days of Campaign

We're in the last two days for the Infinite Archipelago: The Isle of Sedra. The campaign funded (yay!) and we're in the home stretch.

The Infinite Archipelago seeks to bring easily importable setting material into Cidri for The Fantasy Trip. This setting and supporting adventures by David Pulver features:
  • The Sedra Sourcebook. The preview image shows the main map, with geography, political boundaries, important NPCs and factions, and monsters all given inspirational treatment ... with plenty of room for your own adventures. Minimum 32 pages (likely more).
  • Monster Hunter Belladonna. The lethal Belladonna returns, a new member of the Duke of Thorns' Monster Hunters' Guild. Don the red cloak of the Guild as Bella herself ... or your own monster-hunting heroes. 40-page solo/programmed adventure.
  • The Scorpion Labyrinth. Beneath the town of Tamuz, on the edge of the Red Desert, an innkeeper finds a long-lost door to an ancient ruin. What trouble lies beyond the door? He doesn't want to find out ... so he's hiring you! 28 pages.

Also features Decks of Destiny style cards - at least 100 cards - for the new material. If you're new to TFT, or missed some of the older projects, there are starter sets and package deals available.

Gaming Ballistic would appreciate your support on this project.

Please act now to get it before time runs out.

Reviews!

James Eisert at Castle Archon reviewed both The Scorpion Labyrinth and Monster Hunter Belladonna.

Almost done with the Isle of Sedra

I just pushed a near-final version of the Sedra Sourcebook to backers. More details are available in this Kickstarter Update

Things got mostly bigger during the writing process.

* The Scorpion Labyrinth stayed where it was, at 28 pages
* Monster Hunter Belladonna stayed at 40 pages
* The Sedra Sourcebook expanded from 32 planned to 76 pages actual

As a result, the Sedra Sourcebook will be printed as a 0.24" perfect-bound book instead of the stapled ('saddle stitched') original plan.

If you found the original offering a bit thin, it got thicker. The books will be in "backer proofing" stage for roughly the next week while I hyperlink them, get final art, and finalize the book(s) for print. At that point, "late pledges" will close and the book prices will be adjusted for the new page counts.

Right now, you can still get in with Print+PDF for $50; the retail of the book/PDF bundle will grow to about $75 when they finally get uploaded to my site. Cards are only printed to cover the core ordered quantities plus a few extra, and the creature/NPC/PC deck should come with about 120 cards.

In any case: if you were waiting to see what the final product looks like, you can nab it for roughly the next week at original KS pledge rates.
