English Boarding schools

There is a huge ammount of media on adventures set in British Boarding schools. from Tom Browns school days to ST Trinians. It is actually a great genre base with so many different seeds that could be used I am amazed GURPS haven't latched on to it.

I whole heartedly support GURPS St.Trinians, and so does Mark Skarr.

I'd quite like a GURPS Education book, giving enough of a primer of various school systems from throughout the world to run games in them, and example genres that typically use those school systems (at various age levels) as settings, myself...

Once found a 'Girl's Own Annual' from 1935 in a charity shop.

I started to work it up as a game, but I feel the problem would be players...

For a UK audience, this type of adventure (except reades/watchers of Harry Potter) is dominated by the comedy spoofs of the Enid Blyton books: 'Five go Mad in-' (there are three I recall, with the people who went on to 'Bottom', and 'French and Saunders', etc.); so finding someone who wanted to play a funny game would be easy by comparison... ;)

There is a psycho English girls school RPG actually called Hellcats and Hockeysticks. I have no idea if this would be useful with GURPS though.

Its basically a parody of St. Trinian's a UK show I know little about or so I am told ..

Such a rule book could be useful for anything From Little Fears to Harry Potter. and yes the Famous Five and Scooby Doo would benefit form it. So would Sabrina the Teenage Witch or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Limiting ourselves to non-magical stories, the best English boarding school stories are full of the abuse of children. That can be great literature, but is tricky for a fun game.

The latter two would benefit more from a book covering a variety of education systems than one focusing specifically on British Boarding Schools, surely?
