Gathika stands besides Vic, about where she assisted him after the previous fight; she gave him the OK to stand up a few moments ago. She resorts to her arcane knowledge to identify the monster.

Since the dice insist on throwing epic encounters, epic songs keep falling like dominoes.

Bain looks at the monster and says:

Number eight: You're not to laugh at us.

Bain is ready for combat and assessing the situation, he waits for his ally Gathika to shed light on the matter, to decide his attack.

As Gathika informs her comrades of the Demon's attributes, Bain leaps into action and shoots the monster!

He follows up with a second arrow to its side!
(Demon fails to Dodge. 16 injury. Another HT roll...6)

Vic joins in, with a sword swing.
(Demon fails to Dodge, takes 4 injury!)
The unholy beast is cut for a bit!

Telrith readies his shield as he commands his earthy friends to go forth and fight.

TURN 2

The demon stays on the offensive and tries to strike Vic again.
(OOC: I'm on the wrong computer right now, so can you roll for me players? The attack roll for the Demon is 12. Then roll Active Defenses for Vic. The damage roll if it hits is 3d+2 cutting.)

The demon strikes as VICIOUSLY as he can (rolled 10 (12 to strike)), but Vic manages to parry the strike with his sword (rolled 11 (12 to pass))

Bain launches another arrow straight into the demon's side.

By a blood-chilling scream, the demon vanishes back to The Pit into sulphur and embers.

The party takes a deep breath out as the danger passes.

Bain recovers his arrows, and returns to his watch post. During rest, he tells Gathika and Telrith about the song they previously heard.

The “Basilisk Song” is an epic poem about the first adventure of the elven king, founder of Avalon, and his brave friends. It tells an adventure of “seven” days, in which each of the first 3 “stanzas” describe 2 days of their campaign. Normally, the bard tells the story and then sings each stanza, but it is a custom among the knights of Avalon to sing the “musical part” of the poem when marching to war or returning from it.

The first part tells about their victory against a group of cultists trying to overthrow an old king.

No enemy too strong
No enemy too numerous
No enemy too cunning
No enemy too skillful

The second part talks about an expedition to recover the old king’s treasure; they fight a Basilisk for a whole, before reaching their destination.

No land too far away
No wall too high
No river too wide
No armor too thick

The third part describes how the elven king and his party invades the fortress which held the old king’s treasure. The story tells it was decided to resolve the conflict with a one on one between the elven king and the bandit boss; the bandits broke the agreement and that led to a colossal battle that lasted two days. The elven king and his party beat the boss and saved the “old kingdom”.

There is only fight
There is only bloodshed
There is only victory
And just one team remains

The seventh day tell us how things started and what happened to the party, it is longer than you might think, but it begins like this:

A lad in the conquest of his life…
A monster trying to become human…
A man who lost everything…
A giant in search of love…
An immortal in journey of self-discovery…
An abomination in search of beauty…
