Nope, that's not the Mauser round. Those stats are for the dimensionally identical Tokarev version. I have seen quotes that the T-33 gets an extra 100 fps over the C-96 from a shorter barrel with its' hotter ammo. HT doesn't seem to agree and I don't fight with HANS any more about his research. :)

the table on HT p.101 is quite plain that the C96 is 3D-1 and I don't believe Adventure Guns or Pulp Guns change that.

You're right that I skipped the 'Mauser' in your post. However...

It's also quite plain that the 7.62x25mm Tokarev does 2d+2 pi- when fired from the TT-33. It's right there on the same table on HT101. This is a bit of an issue, given that (as you say) the Tokarev was loaded quite a bit hotter than the Mauser ammo.

One of both or those stats must be wrong.

Going by the Adjusting Damage rules in HT, 2d+2 could be anywhere from 2.43 dice to 2.64 dice. Back-of-envelope calculations suggest that is something like an 18% difference in kinetic energy between the lowest bound of 2d+2 and the highest, so it should be possibly for a notably more powerful round to not qualify for even +1 damage.
