The stairs on the first floor are out, but the flight gets you up to the second floor, and that has working stairs. (a stone block obstructs the stairs from the first floor to the second).

Vassarious recognizes the basin as a magical power acumulator (occult! -- rolled a 6):

The basin is 18 inches across and 12 inches deep, and three feet high. A single golden coin (400$) has been left in the center. It is now a 5 Energy power item anyone can use. It will loose energy at a rate of 1 per 24 hours. If any valuable item is placed in the basin it will become a power item acquiring 1 energy per 24 hours, up to its maximum FP.

The second floor has the remnants of a bed in it, but nothing else.

Vassarious points out the interesting features of the basin...

They recommend someone who might be able to make use of the energy take the charged item, but not use the whole charge if they choose to make use of it. it may be that an item charged from here becomes important later. Vassarious will replace it with a gem.

They complete a search of the area.

Arlon takes the gem. He promises not use it last.

Does that mean the entire island, first floor with the dwarf statue and the area with the elementals?

Sensing the elementals up close, they seem to be in the boulders scattered around the island. Or they ARE the boulders.

How would we know if the elementals were hostile? I say we search the first floor either way.

Vassarious will imprint on one of the earth elementals to facilitate communication if needs be.

The first floor is a circular room 4 yards across. The room is full of trashed wooden beams, with just a small bit of rope thrown in. In the center is a life-sized stone statue of a dwarf with a crossbow, saber, and myriad tools stands in the room.

Arlon says the statue is someone who has been turned to stone, and that he has a few wizard's tool on him. Haley says he's an artificer, but that he is not from the order of the stone.

Maybe we should call back to our patron and see if we can get a wand of stone to flesh or remove curse or some such to reclaim these folk...

Once the floor is searched, we will continue to the rest of the island.

Arlon: "Yes, with five different people turned to stone, a way to recover them would be very useful."

the only other real thing to search is the boulders. How do you go about searching the boulders?

Vassarious will stroll over, assuming Earth elemental form on the way if they were able to sample them. Perhaps their senses will help.

Well that's a better than "Let's lever over some of the boulders."
