To fit the infestation mold and to sample some Ken Hite goodness, how about a world festering over with Qlippoth (see GURPS Cabal) and sending out Soma Seeds (also mentioned in Cabal, as a vector for otherworldly invasion) to infest other worlds?

Used something like this in an old Fantasy game; the seeds were the birth hives of the qlippoth, who in turn feed on corruption and filth (they are the scabs of the first, aborted Creation, afterall).

Ok, let's stick with the GoaUld like approach. What if they run a hugh star empire - and naturally BOTH, Centrum AND Homeline, are seen as THE enemy for this.

I'd go with the Qlippoth. They are already part of the setting (assuming the third edition Cabal book is still valid).

Suppose a scout discovers a world overrun with Borg, Replicators (from SG-1), or something similar. They assimilate the conveyer, and start attacking worlds listed in its computer.

What about an alliance between the Aramen Order and the Qlippoth (which are actually the same as the Proff's old ones).

How about all the conveyors they send out vanish. And none of their out-world conveyors return either. Is it happening to Centrum as well? Who knows? Think of the wars that will ensue, think of all the accusations.

Yeah. What about it. Pretty boring. Unless you stuff the PC's into a conveyor and let them disappear. But then, that is not really like "oh, we have a base" anymore. More like some dimension jumping.

Nope, I do not like this idea to get chaos in.

Infinity and/or Centrum discover a high magic, multi-alternate polity.

I've been thinking about a group that is descended from one of the Atlantean reality shards that didn't regress as much as the one in the Cabal's back story [using the idea that there was some sort of disaster that scattered shards of some proto-atlantis acroos many worlds]. They have been expanding into worlds that are mostly high mana and have only recently started exploring lower mana realities.

They are mostly open about there being multiple realities and have a long and open tradition of magic and no Ministry of Serenditpity to hold them back. I'd make them TL 4+3 or 5+2 with the divergence being magical enhancements and alchemical materials.

Or maybe Coventry suddenly becomes as accessible as any other world (finding out why could be part of the campaign). Most of the inhabitants would still be stuck, but the world jumpers would escape. Imagine what a bunch of world jumpers with a grudge against Homeline could do.
