Heck, you could do Books from the example in Thaumatology, using Newton's Principia, or maybe Hellenic philosophical treatises. Don't need spiritualists to use Books, just books. |

I'd say that Magical Styles is better for your purposes than Age of Gold. I mean, everyone keeps saying that AoG is too setting specific and that everything can be done just fine with Thaumatology. You might be able to think of Magical Styles as an extension of Thaumatology. I don't think you need it, but I do think that it would serve your pursposes better than AoG. I didn't get quite the kick out of it that I thought I would though... but that's just me.
