"So we loose a tithe of the cash and burn half of the weight? ... that's not a terrible idea. We could also bury the loot and come back for it. Probably outside of the canyon. If someone gets it, that's fine ... their armor didn't save them, and it won't save the next group. We can bring more or better carts when we return next time."

(OOC: Yes, seperate rooms. The locked room was at one end of the corridor, the sleeping quarters are attached to the mess hall. The door is a heavy wood, the wall is stone, the lock is made of metal.)

(OOC: The adventurer who made his Survival roll only needs 4 meals for the journey.)

The party packs up and leaves the canyon, heading back to Starhold Keep.

DAY 5

(OOC: Everyone eat their meals for the day. Random encounter.)

As the adventurers make their way out of the woods, they stumble upon a weird demonic beast tearing apart the corpse of a lion. It vaguely resembles a heavy warhorse but crimson and terribly horned. It has not noticed them yet and it is 10 yards away.

As Bain spots the monster, he warns his friends and quickly takes his shoes off to improve his stealth; in a combination of stealth and camouflage (critical success) he closes in 5 yards, procuring an elevated position, to aid his shooting.

He aims and takes the shot, dealing up to 70 HP of injury, with a double attack, hitting the vitals of the creature.

Bain and Vic hit the monster with their projectiles, but the horrid beast manages to stay both alive and conscious despite the assault.

Gathika prepares to defend herself.

(OOC: Telrith, it is your turn before combat proper starts. State what you are doing. It is a new day, so you needed to roll to conjure your elementals hours ago, so roll their "appearance" now to see what elementals are active.)

Telrith battens down the hatches as his elemental friend handles the cart and violence begins in earnest...

TURN 1

(OOC: The monster has Basic Speed 5.25 and it is below HP 0, so it will need to roll effective HT 14 to stay conscious on its turn. Can someone please roll that for me? In the meantime, I believe Bain gets first action this turn?)

Bain, takes a deep breath and commits his attack to the goddess of death, praying:

Burning blue,
Tear the sky like a raging fire,
And exterminate my enemies,
DANCING MAD!


Two arrows fly away from Bain’s bow and strike the skull of the creature, stealing its life*. The monster collapses while its head, now a pulp, decorates the valley as the red spider lilies of fall.

*A critical hit dealing 96 HP of injury.
