Peter runs after the animal, demon hot on his heels. Goliath makes another charge at the monsters, making as loud and vicious a noise as he can. The green one slows momentarily, and the snake demon piles into its back. Both of them go down on the ground.

Peter is still running after the horse... but now insector has shown up.

(Goliath rolled intimidation 11 ... demon rolled an 18, a critical failure on will).

Peter continues his mad dash away from the creatures and toward his horse, and shouts "Good boy! Now come!" as he mentally orders "Insector" to run interference.

Do you want Insector trying to draw them away, slow them down, bring them to a temporary stop, or outright defeat them?

Peter is thinking Insector should make a close pass at them and try and grab their attention and draw them away.

After a couple of close passes insector is able to draw the demons away... at least for a moment. They start trying to surround the smaller creation.

Peter directs his creation to zig-zag just a bit to delay them surrounding him long enough to climb up a sizable tree, using its many limbs to move through the branches in a smooth motion as insects tend to do...

Meanwhile, Peter desperately tries to catch his horse.

The zig zagging gives the insector a few more seconds... but when it tries to climb the tree it finds itself much slower and heavier than anticipated... though it does start going up.

Peter runs for his horse, and the beast lets him grab on and drag himself up.

Peter holds on tight to the horse and ushers it forward, then takes a moment to glance through insector's eyes and see its situation, and encourages it to keep them distracted and to switch to attacking the creatures if they start to lose interest and act to move away.

The insector is stuck up that single tree, unable to jump safely to another... but has distracted all five demons. The small green one starts climbing the tree, and then the insector is out of range.

After a few minutes, Anil slows his horse down.

"That was very close. Now we've got the whole trip home to figure out what to do next. And see if we can find Ravneet. Let me know when you have enough strength to have a Karana bird look for a fire he's lit."

"Let's get a bit farther and we'll light a fire... I think I have the strength. I hope the others are okay."

Peter will create a bird from the smoke when they build the fire and set's it off in a circular search pattern.

"It HAS to be that little token Mr. Pundell carries. It must be the key... or part of it anyway. If we try again, maybe we should use our own Karana to lure the demons out away from the pack, and pick them off one at a time."
