The Five Armed Spikey Starfish tears after the departing swordfish demon at high speed. It seems to notice you, and the three of you move away from the sub at over forty miles per hour, into the deep blackness.

The sword fish starts turning inky black, into something harder to see... its still moving at full speed for now though.

Any tricks to catch up with it or find it once its done changing its form?

Well I suppose we're shooting at it already. Tossing me at it won't help with the high drag of the water. We can't really get ahead of it either. I don't think I can do too much here.

Vassarious becomes a giant black marlin with a depression and scaly covering to contain Halcyone. The creature is a hodgepodge with no digestive system to make room for thousands of retractable fins with micro-tubule muscles to be expressed for rapid movement. Vassarious adapts the millions of eggs of the creature and changes their chemistry to contain brightly glowing biophospheresents in a greasy base to apply to it's hard to see target. But to keep track of it in the dark, Vassarious changes it's visual cortex to respond to sonar and adapts the micro sensors all over it's body to send and receive the ultrasonic pulses and build a sonar picture.

Vassarious is less hopeful for a quick kill in this shape, but hopes that the added speed and tracking will allow them to make contact and give Halycone the opportunity to track it with her guns.

Vassarious will attempt to attack it's prey with a slam from it's pointy face.
(Can I flying leap underwater, or should I break out a power blow?)

And blast or smear it with glowing grease-eggs if that flies!

Flying leap is great for a billfish charge.

V spots the new form of the demon using sonar: a large translucent jellyfish. Its very difficult to see, but won't be able to escape...

You have full wildcards right now... except for the shapeshifting (not combat).

Glowing eggs are cool, though limited to melee range.

Move 34 isn't approved, it should be move+enhanced move but I don't think that actually matters right now and you've demonstrated you can afford it so lets move forward.

What's the range (and cost) on sonar?

Sonar range is normally 2000 yards, but with Increased Range 10X, it's 20,000 yards and [51] points.

The marking seems to work... It doesn't seem to matter much anyhow. Once you've both caught up with the demon and found it, the demon is relatively helpless. Its invisible, but slow and unarmored. It is torn to pieces. Its stinging tentacles might have mattered, but the armor of the Death Marlin keeps them safe.

The sonar identifies the submarine's location, (its generally very useful in the deep dark) and the death marlin returns. The demon it chooses to chase immediately breaks away from the sub, swimming in the exact opposite direction.
