Telrith sends Slateman down the tunnel with a sunstick and an axe, to see what's in the tunnel. He'll climb down, report what he sees, then go about 20 yards forward and then come back and report.


Telrith will get started on recovering his missing 2 ER and 4 FP

The elemental only reports a single tunnel, the ladder is a dead end. No signs of life. Moving forward, the elemental disappears into the single route for a minute before returning. The tunnel keep going for a bit, past some dead end splits, before it comes to a junction (three directions, counting the way it came). Looks clear.

I assume the tunnels continue to be made of earth?

What directions are the tunnels going, in relation to the canyon?

(OC: Yes. The tunnels curve around towards the inner part of the canyon, with an upward slope. If the canyon's back wall is "upward", the tunnel goes "right" but curves around "upward and left" after a short walk.)

I suggest we check the door and rig the secret passage.

Considering the elemental's comments, Bain thinks of a trap (13) 9. He wants to use Telrith's ability to play their strengths.

Bain can easily rig a noisemaker on the trapdoor - if anyone enters or exits the tunnels, they should hear the racket. With that secure, the adventurers can go to the corridor.

Up the slope, there is a locked and trapped door on the right very close. On the other end of the corridor, on the left, is a locked door 10 to 15 yards away. The corridor is lit now. Set up next to the left door is a table and chair, with man sitting down at it, reading a book. He has not noticed anyone yet, and he looks unarmed.

Ok, I'm confused as to the layout: is this the slope leading up from the mess-hall, correct? so the "strait-forward" passage is unexplored?


which direction is the man facing?


are the mages going to wait long enough to recover some energy? Telrith is down by 6 energy right now, out of an effective 9. Stopping for at least 10 minutes and maybe 20 would be advisable. If not he should drink some Paut.

(OC: Yes, the slope goes upward, raising elevation. The party has been in this corridor before - you had a big battle with archers in the dark, remember? The man is facing away from the left door, towards the right end.)

Bain tells Vicious it would be best to ask the bandit about the man. Assuming the passage is natural, he also tells him to check the cave for cues regarding other passages (unnatural formations).

Bain is not entering the passage just yet, but takes a precautionary combination of stealth 14(10) and camouflage (17) 10, weapons ready.
