Price for DR that applies to injury (penetrating damage) instead of damage?
Hey, all! Long time no see.
I'm looking for a limitation (or a fair price for said limitation) on Damage Resistance that makes it apply to injury (penetrating damage)—so, after damage multipliers and such. I could've sworn that I'd seen something like this before, but a search wasn't turning up any results. If you want to know why...
Spoiler:
Thanks!

Like for example +20% on the first 10pt level costs 2 points +20% on 2 levels of IR would cost you 4 points: what do the extra 2 points pay for? If the change in wounding multipliers only applied to damage subtracted from the injury tolerance then I could understand, but it sounds like it also helps reduce spillover, which seems like it would have geometric effects similar to Powers "Injury Tolerance Damage Reduction" |

Re: Price for DR that applies to injury (penetrating damage) instead of damage?
Why do you put Vitality Reserve before reducing the penetrating damage by Injury Resistance? VR is supposed to be D&D / video game hitpoints, as I understand it -- just a way to soak damage without having more "real" HP. To me, the most natural sequence would be:
(And no, I don't think we really need names for every step. They're hopefully adding just clarity to my question along at the price of adding clutter. It's often been handy on the forum to answer questions about exactly how the damage gets calculated in GURPS, even though people rarely use those terms of art precisely once they know how it works.) |
