is it Square root then divided by 6 or 3.5?
It depends upon the bullet. Damage scales with the square root of kinetic energy divided by the cross sectional area of the bullet because that's how armor penetration scales.

Douglas Cole wrote an article on bullet damage in Pyramid - "Interior and Terminal Ballistics in GURPS". Can't seem to find a link to it any more, though.

I wish I could have gotten access to that article back before Pyramid changed its delivery model.

Force (ft lbs) over Crosscutting of the Penetrating Weapon (the bullet)? I would assume this would be in square inches? Would that be as an area or just the diameter?

Energy^1/2 / area or
(Energy / area )^1/2

(i'm more inclined to think its the second)

So when you say damage values are off for high ST values with melee weapons you mean the values are too high or too low?

I hope this doesn't end any other useful information about damage. particularly since melee damage is another mystery to attempt to figure out. :D
