Allies and Unusual Backgrounds
Hello everyone,
I'm experience a doubt on the allies advantage and I could not find the answer on a direct way, so I am asking here. I GMing a super campaign and I was thinking on the ally advantage. If a player wants an super ally how should he/she proceed? Let's say an ally with 100% of the PC player (worth 5 points), who is always with him (x4), total 20 points. But if this ally is also a super ( on the campaign the UB was set on being 100 points) How does the Unusual Background impacts on the ally cost? The player pays the special ability enhancement (+50%) or the UB cost adds to the ally base cost? This procedure would give 5 + 100 = 105 base cost plus the x4 modifier 420 points for a super ally! Could you please help me clarify my noob doubt. Thanks and I'm sorry if I was not clear enough. |

Re: Allies and Unusual Backgrounds
The Ally will have the same number of points in UB as the PC.

Re: Allies and Unusual Backgrounds
This is one of those "entirely up the GM" cases. You can justify it in any way you see as appropriate. That said, I personally wouldn't ever combine UB and the Special Abilities modifier - if you need UB to be a super, then simply build any super Ally with said UB and let that handle the cost of the Ally being special.

Re: Allies and Unusual Backgrounds
If the PC is a superhuman, no UB required. If not, a 10 point UB would be reasonable to be allowed to purchase the Ally. I think a constant Ally, however, would require surgical implantation and would be a superpower of its own.

Or just require Minion and Summonable. Gogo pocket side-kick?
