Silliness from Outer Space [Space]
What is the silliest thing that you have had come from outer space in your games? For my own part, it was a precursor civilization that produced gigantic space bears. They were TL11^ SM+10 biological spacecraft shaped like bears that were capable of sexual reproduction only while they were inhabited by sapient entities, so they kidnapped sapients from primitive planets to serve as their crew. Every 10,000 years or so, their migrations would bring them to Solve and they would raid the Earth to replace their crews.

Re: Silliness from Outer Space [Space]
The obligatory Giant Space Hamsters as the emergency power source for the ships.

In Confederation Space (see Tanya Huff), the Giant Space Hamsters control the government.

I briefly ran a game based on the r/HFY story "Billy Bob - Space Trucker." It is full of silliness.

Re: Silliness from Outer Space [Space]
I think that we can all agree that Spelljammer in general is the winner for "silliness from outer space", and move on to discussing second place.
EDIT: Can anyone link me to a discussion of doing Spelljammer in GURPS? In particular, what options/tweaks to use when building spelljamming vessels using Gurps:Spaceships.

Re: Silliness from Outer Space [Space]
There is a volume on weird and magical ships, with appropriate materials and magical power plants and engines.

Which is the second most useful book in spaceships, right after spaceships 1. Page 31 has a "Star Galleon", which is probably pretty close to what you want.

Re: Silliness from Outer Space [Space]
Yup. That one, can't remember the numbers, and I only have the basic Spaceships here.
But spelljammer had just about anything, sailing ships, organic ships, asteroids, giant seashells, and more that I can't remember atm, but in the end it all boils down to a fancy armor, and some engines that are pretty much reactionless, but require magical energy in one for or another. Everything else is just spaceships, well, maybe the weapons are not exactly nuclear missiles and particle beams, but I wouldn't be so sure about the latter considering what some of those eyball things could do |
