Default Hexagram - any chance of "Sword's Man" story / game

I'm really loving the return of TFT. One of my favorite stories from the old SpaceGamers were the two Sword's Man stories, which were not only great short stories in their own rights, but also were great fodder to include in games.

Any chance of getting some sequels to Sword's Man in the next Hexagrams?

Whehalken and Symmkyn's Edge are still two of my favorite swords, and the stories and characters (and game tie-ins) are all great for the Hexagram format.

I'd second this. Those stories by Timothy Zahn were great fiction, and I believe the Space Gamer was where he was first published.

TIL, Symmkyn (sic) is the name of the Miller in the Chaucer's the Reeve's Tale from the Canterbury Tales who was proud of his swordsmanship.

Since this was from the time that TSG was published by SJG, it isn't out of the question, rights wise.

No need to wait if you want to read them now.

My suggestion to add some balance (and details) to Evil Stevie's spell:

Bind Spirit (S) This ritual takes five minutes and requires a book with the five pages of details for binding the specific type of spirit and the wizard's chest or laboratory. The spirit must be compelled to remain within creation spell range of the caster for the entire time so a Pentagram (the Wards enchantment is a strength saver here) or control spell should be used. Costs five fatigue per hex size of the spirit if successful, failed, or resisted. For purposes of this spell elementals are one hex in size per 15 ST, round up.

There was also the third story, Vampire Trap, in TFG.

"Vampire Trap" (with gaming notes by SJ) -

I do think the Djinn's blade ability to generate at no cost an 80ST whirlwind is a bit overpowered being able to kill everything around you unless they make a 4D6 saving throw vs DX.

The Spirit Binding rules were in this issue and Bind Spirit was an IQ13 spell, however it could be easily over-ridden by Remove Thrown Spell, which seems to make it too easy to free spirits. I would expect a Dissolve Enchantment or something weightier than a basic Remove Thrown Spell.
