Getting character sheets out of this forum is a little tricky. Making full gurps characters to a point budget is not especially quick. If you want character sheets, expect to do a little question answering.

I'm not super happy with Miss Garamata, but she will do. She's based on the starship templates Science Officer. I figured you had the largest number of openings for lab specialists. I don't have your racial templates, so I made a human, but probably half your crew will be humans anyway.

How do you like her?

Surati Garamata [172]:

Attributes: [130]:

ST 9 [-10]
DX 11 [20]
IQ 15 [100]
HT 12 [20]

HP 9
Will 14 [-5]

FP 12

Speed 6 [5]
Move 6

Advantages [55]:
Talent (Natural Science) 3 [30]

Disadvantages [-55]:

Curious[-5]

Quirks [-5]:
Constantly Humming to herself [-1]
Overuses the word "Sir" [-1]
References children's literature [-1]
Ostensible lack of Beauty Routine [-1]
Responsive (quirk level charitable) [-1]

Skills [42]:

Surati Garamata is a science lab specialist specializing in planetary science, an expert on the surfaces of planets. Surati is shy but dedicated to her work, frequently ended up "in the zone". She's also exceptionally good with numbers and has a perfect memory. She's also a consummate consumer of news, always up to date. She's small, but physically fit. Surati is from Indonesia (Jakarta to be specific).

Quirks?? - Why No 'QUIRKS'?
.....
Love her.
....and Finally! - very Happy that someone posted a character - I can work with whats there.
Two minor things - I don't normally do the 'talents' thing., just never got into that habit. And - why no 'Quirks'? Sometimes the most amusing thingabout a character is what 'quirks' someone makes up for them.

Oh yeah - How 'old'' is she? As a just graduated Ensign she could be anywhere from 20 to 27 years old. If we say she went to Branch school and had her cadet cruise already she may be in her mid-20s - around 24 to 26 years old.

Thasnk you - love it, love the effort.

Quirks are hard work, and I .... "just never got in to that habit". You got me thinking about her quirks early in the morning though, so I will add some.

How about:
  • Constantly Humming to herself
  • Overuses the word "Sir"
  • References children's literature
  • Ostensible lack of Beauty Routine
  • Responsive (quirk level charitable)
I've added them.

I'd say that talents are core to how I build characters, but I was really just leaning on the starship crew templates, and they all use talents. Do you want me to rearrange those points? and will she look weird if most of them end up in IQ and has a number like IQ 16?

Lets set her a little around the young side: she's 24.

Sure thing! hopefully we can get another few.

No, I could do a version of her in my 'GCA' - I have the Prime Directive files on it. They autimatically do terms like 'transporter' instead of 'teleporter'. Also, there is an Academy template and one for Science officer in there.

My first pass in the GCA I had her at 25, but that works too...

I hope there are more. The group's next game session is Sunday the 25th.

Shelby DePitt is a survivor. When he was only a young boy, his planet was bombarded from orbit (by whom?*). He survived, but his father and brother did not, and many of his friends where killed. Shelby has determined to stop this from happening to as many other people as possible. He's a decent weapons technician a skilled shot, and handy in a scape, but its easy to see he also has aspirations to leadership. He's a firebrand, but his heart is mostly in a good place... if it is a very specific place.

*I don't know the period well enough to say. I think its too early for the Klingons to have done it? This needs to be filled in.

Shelby DePitt [177]
Sex: Male
Age: 26

Attributes [130]
ST 11
DX 13
IQ 12
HT 12

HP 11
FP 12
PER 12
WILL 12

Basic Speed: 6.25
Basic Move: 6

Advantages [45]
Combat Reflexes [15]
Talent (Born War Leader) 3 [15]
Fit [5]
Charisma 2 [10]

Disadvantages [-65]
Enemy (Klingons) (Large/Powerful Group) [-30]
Obsession (CR: 12 (Resist quite often); Long term) [-10]
Bad Temper (CR: 12 (Resist quite often)) [-10]
Chummy [-5]
Sense of Duty (Friends and Companions) [-5]
Stubbornness [-5]

Quirks [-5]
Dramatic Metaphors [-1]
Impatient (Quick level Impulsiveness) [-1]
Never Stops Talking [-1]
Always has a new a insult each time he insults [-1]
Ostentatious Federation Loyalist [-1]

Skills [72]
Leadership 17 (IQ+5) [2]
Intelligence Analysis/TL3 14 (IQ+2) [2]
Strategy (Space) 14 (IQ+2) [2]
Gunner/TL11 (Phaser) 17 (DX+4) [12]
Artillery/TL11 (Photon Torpedo) 14 (IQ+2) [8]
Explosives/TL11 (Demolition) 13 (IQ+1) [4]

Electronics Operation/TL3 (Sensors) 12 (IQ+0) [2]
Expert Skill (Military Science) 12 (IQ+0) [4]
Spacer/TL11 13 (IQ+1) [2]
Computer Operation/TL11 12 (IQ+0) [1]
Free Fall 13 (DX+0) [2]
Vacc Suit/TL11 13 (DX+0) [2]
Public Speaking 15 (IQ+3) [4]
Savoir-Faire (Military) 16 (IQ+4) [2]
Beam Weapons/TL11 (Phaser) 15 (DX+2) [4]
Brawling 15 (DX+2) [4]
Carousing 12 (HT+0) [1]
Fast-Talk 13 (IQ+1) [4]
Running 12 (HT+0) [2]
Law (Starfleet) 12 (IQ+0) [4]

I'm still using the templates, with their talents. Things just go so much faster that way. Shelby is built to add color to the campaign, as much as to be a good ordnance technician. And to give an unruly subordinate to argue with. And yes, note that he has law and public speaking.

Eric The Red,

The time period of my game is 2262 - halfway between "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and "Star Trek The Original Series".
There was a brief war with the Klingon in 2256 to 2257. (First season of "Star Trek:Discovery")

In 2236 there was a Klingon Raid on a Vulcan and Human research outpostkilling Michael Birnham's parents.

So yeah there are occasional Klingon raids into Federation space the last couple of decades.

I don't know star trek well enough to know what happens in that time period. That's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

Please scroll up and look at my post again - I had to do an edit and add words or a thought.
My first attempt to write the post the screen froze up on me in the middle of a sentence.

But yes - there could have been Klingon raids in his youth...

Have you tried downloading (uploading?) the 'Prime Directive' files for the GCA? Because the Templates there are a tad different and don't have 'talents'. They also have "Star Trek" teminology already built-in. (like 'Transporters' instead of 'teleporters', "Warp Drive' etc...)
Just ignore any and all reference to that darn 'Star Fleet Battles' universe. We're going for the Prime or 'canon' Star Trek setting.

Thanks again, this gives me more to work with...

I don't own GCA, sorry, my players all use GCS.
