What I would beg for right now is GURPS fans' indulgence as 2023 continues to be light on new content for a while . . . I'm really tired from my 2022 illness, really distracted by my housing situation, and more than a little "burned out" by life events since 2016 alongside a serious work schedule. I don't expect 99% of GURPS players to care – they don't know me personally, after all! – but if even 1% dial back the "Why?", that'd be 1% less work stress. I'll take it!
As an author with a number of projects I would like to get done before I am no longer able to write my main concern is still your health (mental and physical) and happiness. Do what you need to do, I'll wait.

Living somewhere other than in a cardboard box is also important on a fairly tangible, physical level . . .

Okay, that's an exaggeration. Still, a "squeeze-play" lease accepted because it were all we could find would probably compromise our access to key people (like doctors and lawyers), events (like the dancing I do to stay sane), and places (like shops we know and where we are known); make transportation more difficult (we have no car); and possibly put us in a less safe, less green neighborhood (most are, compared to ours). If the last-minute apartment were small, it would also mean downsizing our lives or paying for storage. All of which would lead to a second move in a year's time, with further expense and inconvenience. All of which would indeed be hard on mental health as well.

Thanks in general for the show of empathy. Believe me when I say that I'd rather recent times hadn't involved COVID-19 and the threat of eviction, only tough editorial calls . . .

I've always treated GURPS as a labor of love, something that SJ Games keeps chugging, even though they make their money from card and dice games.

I'll tell my good friend Herbie you named a week after him.

I hope things go well with your residence/court situation!

New entry posted in the GURPS thread of my DW. Short, but the first item will probably make people happy.
