Adjusting for SM
I can only find one rule relating to adjusting equipment for different size modifiers and that rule is in Low-Tech on page 8. The only thing this rule states is that "Clothing, life-support gear, and similar personal items assume a user the size of a normal, adult human (SM 0)."
This rule leads me to believe that the only types of items that really need adjusted for different size modifiers are objects that can be worn or obviously related to body size such as backpacks, blankets, sleeping bags, cloaks, armor, and clothing. I can infer from this that other types of items such as weapons, containers, torches, and other types of items don't necessarily need to be adjusted for a creature's size, though logic would seem to indicate that a torch intended to be used by a normal human (SM 0) would be impractical when used by a one foot tall faerie (SM -5) or a 25' tall giant (SM +3). My question is, are there more precise rules in other books related to this topic? If not, does anyone have any suggestions for more precise rules governing which equipment needs SM adjustments? |
