Weapon Sizes
Where can i find (or figure out)the SM for weapons. It is important for the Gadget (can be broken) Limitation. Is the standard Axe, for example, a size -5,-4? Is a spear -3,-2,-1 or 0? I suppose I could research the different weapons, find the average length, and use the Size chart but is there an easier way to find SM. perhaps as a function of Weight, Min ST, or Reach?

Re: Weapon Sizes
I would probably just use the Reach stat for each weapon to determine its length. Kinda breaks down for "C," but I'd call that SM-3 or SM-4 or whatever seems reasonable.

Re: Weapon Sizes
GURPS has traditionally refused to specify how large different weapons are, so you have to research that yourself. But see the Disarm technique and Striking a Weapon option which give rules to calculate weapon SM!

Re: Weapon Sizes
Thank you for the quick replies.
I decided on an eyeball ruling based off the disarming and striking rules. it is as follows: SM -6 or -5 For Reach C SM -5 or -4 For Reach C,1 SM -4 For reach 1 SM -4 Or -3 For Reach 1,2 SM -3 For reach 2 SM -3 or SM -2 For reach 2,3 SM -2 For reach 3 to choose between the smaller or bigger SM with the same reach, base it on the weight of the weapon, or just pick the one that feels right. as a Corollary: a weapon that can change its reach with a different grip the SM could also change for the purpose of striking the weapon? do you think this is a reasonable ruling? |

Re: Weapon Sizes
Seems like some good numbers :)
And no, IMO the SM of the weapon should change. After all the weapon itself doesn't shrink. You just wield it differently. |
