Re: Effects of Mecha Mooks on warfare and society?
Back when I made the post, I didn't intend them to be one-shot-kills. A THS Humaniform seems like a roughly appropriate body for them. Or the non-special robots from Global Agenda (not too bright, not too tough, but still don't go down in one hit).

That's not the Mecha Mook trope, then IMO.

Well, maybe. I remember that Global Agenda had a lot to do with thinking up this question (but also VUASO etc.), and I've seen Global Agenda non-special robots referred to as Mecha Mooks.

I've never played Global Agenda, so I don't really have a frame of reference. My notion is Mecha Mooks is largely anime-derived. The operative thing is that they are mooks, yes?

Re: Effects of Mecha Mooks on warfare and society?
Well, they are mooks compared to the average PC, anyway. Who are augmented and well-armed and all. We don't actually have a way to compare them against civilians. The point is they're robots, they're not particularly cool when compared to PC-level soldiers, and they're so cheap that there are lots and lots of them the Combine can afford. (Is it Combine? I might be mixing my settings here.)

Re: Effects of Mecha Mooks on warfare and society?
Well the game mechanics aren't terribly relevant (although in GURPS, the logical extension of Cannon Fodder is that they have just enough DR to stop small arms, don't defend, and Explode (as per Fragile) when they take a point of damage). The end result is that they exist to soak the area effect (and missile massacre) attacks of hero units and to let hero units look badass prior to the epic confrontation (possibly with plasma swords).

Thanks for all the great feedback. This should be very useful.
