My favorite is the Tanuki. I made a half-tanuki character for a project I'm working on. I'll share his template here.

Half-Tanuki (-25 points)
Advantages:
Accessory(belly drum)[1]; DR 1[5]; Fur[1]; Huge Weapons(SM) 1[1]; Night Vision 2[2].
Disadvantages:
Alchohol Intolerance[-1]; Colorblindness[-10]; Easy to Hit(+2 SM to Groin location)[-2]; Gullibility(15)[-7]; Increased Consumption 1[-10]; Playful[-1]; Unnatural Features 4[-4].

Don't take its low cost too seriously; I was intentionally giving my character the worst traits of both his parent races as often as I found reasonable (using both the dog and the mythical being). A normal tanuki would probably have increased ST, glamour-based Morph or innate Illusion Disguise spell, and either a crushing striker or melee-based crushing innate attack for his balls. Blunt Claws and Sharp Teeth for his canine physiology would also be logical.

And they can fly by flapping their tails. Or was that just the from Mario? :)

I've seen tanuki from outside of the Mario series fly, but it wasn't their tails they were flapping. ;)

There are Hindu "Goblins" (Pisaca), "Heavenly Water Nymphs" (Apsarasaḥ), "Faeries", "Sprites" . . . but be ready to not find them too dissimilar to European ones.

You can try also with Yakṣa and Gandharvas.

There is the Buffalo-Titan Mahishasura. Not a race, however:

I know, but I said that because b-dog seems to be asking for races and not unique monsters.

It seems to be reasonably in the spirit of things to make unique monsters into "races". Of course what b-dog actually wants is always opaque to me.

Tanuki (especially as portrayed in Pompoko) would make the most awesome playable race.

this is a rough kitsune styled playable race that I made for an alternate game. if you want to use it have @ it.

Vulpine "kitsune"

attribute modifiers: ST -1; DX +1

advantages: accutre hearing 2; claws(blunt); combat reflexes; damage resistance 1; teeth (sharp); shapechange (cosmetic only, mana sensitive, glamour (will -4) "human illusion"

perk: fur

disadvantages: supernatural features (shadow does not change w/ shapechange )

quirk: canine aggression "dogs hate you, cause you are a fox"

special: the vulpine race is unique that as they gain ranks in magery they acquire additional tails. magery 0 = 1 tail, magery 1 = 3 tails, magery 2 = 6 tails and magery 3 = 9 tails. this is the reason why the magic using vulpine prefer the name kitsune in reference to japanese folklore (which may not exist so does not make a lot of sense)

this is a bipedal creature sdo the size is equal to a human and with the shapechange it is to help them dissapear when avoiding someone in a crowd. the glamour will make it so if you disbelieve or touch them they are pretty much out of luck cause you will feel the fur over hair and the supernatural features is because .... well it is an illusion.
