Default Kicking down a curse card

So the way I was taught when I first learned Munchkin was if you kick down a curse, the curse resolves and you skip straight to charity. Now that I own a few sets, I've read the rules up and down and found no rule.

My question is, "Can you loot the room or look for trouble after you kick down a curse?"

Yes, yes you can. I've heard of this idea before, so you aren't alone in having been taught that, but as far as I can tell that was never the case.

Thanks for your standing. I'll be sure to clarify this next time I host a game.

From the rules:
Quote:
(2) Look For Trouble: If you did NOT draw a monster when
you first opened the door, you now have the option of playing a
monster
Quote:
(3) Loot The Room: If you did not find a monster by kicking open the door and you did not Look For Trouble, you loot
the room
Only if you kicked open a monster do you not get those options...

(Kicking a monster open sounds kinda gross... especially if it is the Floating Nose!)

Yeah, like everyone else said, your turn continues on after you draw a curse card. However, the curse still affects you, so it's not all great.

I'm pretty sure that curse description was how they were played prior to the 2010 rule change. Curses probably started allowing you to Loot the Room when the spoils of combat were moved to the Combat Phase rather than part of Looting the Room.

In any case, if you are not playing in a tournament and you are using an old set which lists it in the rules, you can still use the old rule if you want.

I dunno. I've got some pretty old rules (my cards are non-color, it didn't come with a die, and the box doesn't even SAY what printing it is) and I don't remember that being the case. Now you're going to make me go check the old rules, after I went and printed out the new ones! ;-)

The old rules are the same as the new rules regarding Curses.

Fair enough, I guess this is just a common mistake that people used to make in that case.

Not ever was the game intended to be played that way, nor did the rules even suggest it. I suggest that if you didn't play the game before 2010, don't speculate about it, and you won't cause confusion for other players by giving wildly incorrect answers.
