Well, “negates” might be a bit extreme, but it does diminish Spell Shield’s value. By the same token, having a Thrown spell be immune to Remove Thrown Spell does the same to RTS.

Does it cost 28 fatigue to de-animate a 14 hex zombie dragon with RTS?

Pity that I didn't get to use RTS as noted at Fantasy Gamer #4, p28 in this latest adventure, though there were a few casters who knew it.

I'd want to require the caster to point at their target and loudly invoke (in the Sorcerer's Tongue of course) "Remove Blur!" or "Remove Flight!" or "Remove Invisibility!". And if that specific spell isn't present, then RTS fizzles, it costs them 1 ST, and they are aware of it. How would you say "Oops!" in Sorcerer's Tongue?

I'd probably allow RTS to work though if the spell they named was the right sort, just of lesser degree. For example, "Remove Iron Flesh" would be close enough to work even if it turned out the target was only under a Stone Flesh spell. Just maybe, I'd even allow for the opposite and let "Remove Stone Flesh" cast on a target that was actually under Iron Flesh reduce that spell to mere Stone Flesh rather than cancel the enchantment entirely.
If "Remove Stone Flesh" had no effect (or less effect) on Iron Flesh, but "Remove Iron Flesh" would remove either, then why would anyone ever cast "Remove Stone Flesh"?

  • How often do you select Remove Thrown Spell for your PCs and NPCs?
    - Fairly often, when they have enough IQ for it.

  • How have you used it in combat situations?
    - yes

  • How have you used it in less tactical situations?
    - yes

  • If you've ever been in a situation in which you rued the fact that you didn't equip your character with this spell, tell us about it!
    - When we had people suffering curses. Or who wanted to undo shapeshifting.
