Well, I don't really want to get into Nagel's stuff. And to be fair, the paper was published in 1974, but whether a bat is the best example isn't really all that relevant. We can certainly imagine critters (perhaps from another planet) with quite different senses than we have and with what we could call consciousness.
Oops. Again, I only mentioned Nagel's article in passing, not as a serious issue for TFT. With magic, lots of weird things are possible. Which, to be fair, really is kind of the point of magic.
