Re: russian civil war (osterns)
Mostly want they were wearing from WW1.
'Snow' Camo was not really developed. AFAIK most fighting uniforms were a functional form of dress. Warm, heavy, pockets. Green/khaki developed as the first attempt of camo because of the basic terrain. Similar to beige desert scheme. Snow Camo however isn't easy to find during the RCW. Search on google images, apparently Osprey books have several books out on Tanks and Units of RCW. After some research, Osprey books provides Russians with white coats. However, some of their explanations are bit 'wooley' (excuse the pun) for the styles of dress. Last edited by smurf; 10-27-2008 at 04:30 PM. |

russian civil war (osterns) garb --
Quote:
I know the US forces were wearing overcoats, scarves, heavy mitts (mittens) and Russian-style fur hats near Murmansk. I'd expect that the British were pretty similar (plus the sheepskin garments aforementioned). |

Re: russian civil war (osterns)
CHEERS ALL!
i did however manage to find a picture - finally! the british winter gear was designed by the arctic explorer Shackleton and incorporated: an oil skin greatcoat, gloves and large mittens, oil skin covered boots and a large hat. |
