Help turn Beam Weapons (Projector) into a Perk/Technique?
I've been going through things for my space opera setting, and I want to make one change:
Beam Weapons† (p.*B179)What kind of penalty should I apply to a pistol or rifle that produces a cone attack (for example, either a sonic weapon or a blaster shotgun, or for a more notable example a Star Trek split-beam phaser)? And would it best be bought off with a Perk or a Technique (probably an Average Technique)?

Re: Help turn Beam Weapons (Projector) into a Perk/Technique?
Away from the bulk of my library, but you might want to consider checking out "Alternate Guns Specialties and Techniques" (Pyramid #3/65). In addition to simplifying the Guns specialties down (to pistol, longarm, and LAW), I believe there's also a Technique for using Payloads (explosive rounds, gas, tangler, etc). Offhand, I'd probably say that a Cone/Projector Technique would have the same default as that Payload Technique. Note if you have "explosive" beam weapons (like a downscaled version of the BFG from the Doom series, for example... or even just the BFG itself, that just has a much larger explosive radius than most), those would use a different Technique from the ones that fire cones, but it would be the same default as Payload for firearms (because it basically is a beam weapon version of Payload).
