Default [DF] skills connected to spells

Illusion spells work better when the caster has Artist (Illusion), Blink requires a Body Sense roll in order to be most useful, Slide requires the Skiing skill, Cloud-Vaulting requires the Acrobatics skill...the list goes on. Each of these spells are included on the lists of Priest spells in Dungeon Fantasy 7: Clerics, yet none of the skills are on the templates for the associated priest, nor that of the wizard. So how is a starting DF character to use any of these spells?

The DF books generally do too little, in my opinion, to explain how the magic system is best used in DF games. This is one of many examples of this...

All of those skills do have a default, and many of them are IQ based; the high IQ wizard and priest can likely wing it, and if more power in that specific spell is needed pick it up with earned EXP

And besides who picks a spell and doesn't read it?
OK I have known a few of those but there the kind that a GM needs to walk through character design anyhow :)

An excellent question. Who picks a spell for a Power Investiture list and doesn't read it and realize that a starting character would be unable to use it?

That's if your GM allows you to advance in off-template skills at all. Artist is the only one with an IQ default, and to succeed reliably you would need a ridiculously high IQ.
