I think going forward, in order to avoid issues or queries like this getting lost in noise, it's probably best if they have their own thread, either in here or on the Steam discussion board. We'll be monitoring both. |

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
For those of us who have Ogre friends far away will the game support a human vs. human mode? Updated: I just got to the Steam page and the answer is YES!

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
I've looked at the web pages and man I am pumped! Been waiting forever for this!
One thing I don't understand is how to buy the game. It doesn't come out until Oct 5, but I don't see how to pre-order it. Also I'm confused by steam. Is that a program that you download to play the game? A website you log into to play the game? Just a discussion board? I find the steam page vague, sorry.

1. Set up a steam account 2. install and run the steam app 3. buy Ogre and download it inside the steam app 4. play Ogre inside of Steam Steam has a bunch of community-related "other stuff" forums, etc but the part you care about is being able to play Ogre, so you need the app.

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
Thanks Mr. Penguin!
It would also be great to have a list of people somewhere who want to play Ogre with this new program. There's not many Ogre players around me so 99% of the Ogre/GEV I've played has been on cyberboard. I'm sure you guys have already thought of this but thought I would mention anyway.

Sigh. Another game I have to buy two copies of. One for me and one for my brother off on the west coast.

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
Hello Jake! Thank you for taking the time to interact like this. It means a great deal to me.
I just wanted to add another voice from the "games on Linux" camp. It would be a dream come true for a KS backer like me! On the technical side, what dev tools do your team utilise to bring OGRE to life? What cool engine tech and nifty middleware bits? I have a hobbyist interest in video game development and would love to know some of the tech details. Thanks again, and I wish you luck in making this game the best digital version possible. Edit: I am happy for my Windows friends here, and I don't want Auroch to feel unappreciated, either. I hope that we Linux & OS X folks aren't giving that impression. Yay it's for PC!*
*I don't want them to think no one here is happy that it comes out for PC**, hopefully they will expand what it will work on. **Yes I am lazy and buy what works for my simple needs.

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
I have no problem with it coming out on PC - most people aren't sysadmin geeks like me, and PC is what pays for them to make it in the first place. I just want it to ALSO be available on Linux :)
And I'm happy to hear that my pleas are being heard, whether or not anything comes of it. It's always nice when a developer acknowledges those of us outside the mainstream - it means there's a chance for us, but it also gives us incentive to find ways to support them in the meantime. So kudos to Jake and Auroch for being so responsive!
