I was looking at the "realistic" (non-cinematic) rules for the EA skill on page 19 of Chinese Elemental Powers and was trying to figure how close I could get to it's mechanics using existing rules. Does this seem pretty close?
The idea is if we model whatever 'free' ability characters now have then via "Modifying ST-based Damage" approaches, one would be able to tweak that ability somehow by converting modifiers into advantages or disadvantages, like one does w/ Crushing Attack from Striking ST's thrust. Took some liberties because it didn't actually mention how to resist it, but Will seemed most reasonable. Reason I used Malediction was to make it so that duration would be dependent on the attacker's EA skill roll. Crit fails of defender (or MoV 5+) seems like the closest substitute to Ecstacy only happening on critical successes, which seems kind of rare. (This "5 point difference" somewhat resembles Fade to Black (Social Engineering 29) having a 5-point difference between basic/advanced techniques)Affliction 1 (B35: base 10) +9% modifiers [19] enhancements +220% Cosmic: Adding Utility +50% (emanate from any point on the user’s body: so that it does not require use of just hands or just mouth, interchangeable)limitations: -130% †Accessibility: Requires Sexual Intimacy -25%Notes Setup note for DX: touch-based Maledictions generally require a DX roll by user to establish contact with a target if contact is not already established. This would not be required if contact was already established, such as by an action of the target. This is separate than opting to make the required Erotic Art activation roll DX-based. Setup note for Will: although this is not a Cumulative affliction, the penalty to IQ for "Euphoria" should make it harder to resistant subsequent attacks. Equipment note: to discourage the use of non-sexual tools like extremities over traditional sexual organs, B345's "Equipment Modifiers" might be applied for erotic art: Fine Manipulators could suffer an inherent -2 penalty as "improvised equipment". FP note for target: Agony/Ecstacy results in a loss of 1 FP per minute OR FRACTION. Presumably one needs to be conscious to feel pain/pleasure, so one should keep in mind that it's unlikely to kill someone by HP loss into negative FP as that usually knocks someone out. FP note for user: P160's "Trading Fatigue for Skill" is meant for powers (not normal Extra Effort) so it should probably not be allowed. P159's "Abilities and Exertion" already charges 1 FP per minute for "Other Intensive Use" (B426 as per Running or Swimming) but as per CEP19 this loss should be avoidable by a successful HT-based roll against Erotic Art. Killjoy's penalty to Erotic Art rolls would make it more likely to lose FP. This can be interpreted as it being unnatural for them to do this: the awkwardness increases fatigue likelihood. In cases of critical failure of the DX-based Erotic Art roll, hitting oneself with the attack would be subject to standard requirements: physical contact needs to be established with an erogenous zone unprotected by DR, so someone cannot accidentally Ecstacy themself with solely manual application of the skill. |
