Gathika STABS another zombie with her sword in the vitals (15) 8, it's (3+2)*3 = 15 HP of damage.

If zombie is down, Gathika makes victory pose.

Gathika sends the staleskin back to the other side!

The chaos of combat winds down, the party are surrounded by the re-slaughtered corpses, rotten sacks of gore split open. It takes a bit before it all gets cleaned up, but the rest of the night is peaceful.

DAY 37

The party wakes up, eats breakfast, gets to hiking through the woods to the Caves again.

Later that morning, they arrive back at the canyon, the Caves still there and open to exploration.

After the battle Telrith will ask Mihrimah what weapons she is trained in.

The hireling holds up her two fists, balled and knuckles out with her thumbs inward. She smiles widely.

(OC: Good news, she'll earn Character Points and improve when you guys do.)

Bain checks the monsters and recovers his arrows. He asks Gathika and Telrith about the creatures.

Magnificent job everybody! Geez, 25 zombies, they sure have something to tell. Don’t you think? Maybe there are clues about where they come from.

Bain pats the back of Mihrimah.

I commend your effort Mihrimah, but tell me... Don't you know how to wield any weapons?

Finally, Bain looks at the zombie’s tracks (12) 8 (using his power to illuminate the area) to find details about their behavior (e.g. do they come from the same place? Were they following commands? etc.)... The next day Bain speaks to the party:

It’s time to sweep the lower levels, once and for all. A STORM OF IRON APPROACHES! Onward!

Bain can track down the origin of the zombies that attacked the camp last night, it seems they came from near the Caves but not within the canyon.

Telrith will try to analyze the spell animating the zombies via Thaumotology (success by 7). He wants to know if they were created with divine or arcane magic, if the original caster is the one controlling them, how they were guided to our location, and how old they are.


He hoped for more information about how old they were, where the bodies came from, and other details, but his occultism roll failed.

The zombies were created by demonic magic. The evil magic that raised the undead was not cast but tied to a corrupted place. A spellcaster then used a different spell to command the zombies. Other details are beyond knowledge of Thaumatology. The bodies look like they were ritually murdered, they do not look older than months.

Telrith considers taking some time to instruct Mirima on how to use an axe (he has teaching), but ultimately considers that the fighting style is unlikely to suit her.



"Vic, could you instruct Mirima on how to fight with a blade? She's going to need it"

The hireling handles the axe with uncertain grace. She is doubtful about fighting with it.
