PDF Links
PDF links no longer function (just plain text, no underlining, no color, no response to mouse).
Tried Stormcrow's suggestion about Program Files vs Program Files (x86). No difference. Tried Adobe, Bravo, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Sumatra Reader. I did get it to work by accident once before. |

Re: PDF Links
Most of those things can be changed in Options > Program Options > PDF Launching. Make sure you haven't changed the color to black; I think underline and bold are off by default, but don't recall. You can turn off the mouse pointer changing, as well, since on some machines it flashes which annoys people.
It also has to be a valid book code, known by GCA, so if the page code uses a book GCA doesn't know, or if your bookcodes.xml file is missing, GCA won't be able to determine the page codes to make into links. (That file normally lives at %programdata%\Steve Jackson Games\GURPS Character Assistant 5. But there should *also* be a version with changes you've made in your user book bin folder.) GCA's version should be kept updated by the Updater, so if it's missing Check for Updates might restore it. I have no idea what could have been done to break it beyond that. If you haven't closed and re-opened GCA, or tried after a new boot-up, do that.

Re: PDF Links
Uninstalled GCA5.
Rebooted. Reinstalled GCA5. Verified underlining and color are on, for pdf links. Same situation. Located Bookcodes.xml, it appears to be correct. Made sure GCA5 is pointing to my GURPS books folder, it is. Any other suggestions? |

Re: PDF Links
What is the resulting behavior if you double-click on a PDF icon outside of GCA, just in Windows?

Re: PDF Links
I have no idea what could be causing this for you.
Well, I do have one idea, which is that something has altered the RTF display box that GCA uses, and that disables its ability to do the witchery that's used for the links. But that seems very unlikely. Can you open GCA, create a new character, click on Absolute Direction, and then take a screen shot of the program, or even just the Info pane, and post that? If not, maybe send it to me at gca5@misersoft.com. Or even, after Absolute Direction is being shown in Info, click on the Copy button for the pane, paste that into Wordpad or Word or some other RTF editor, save it as an RTF file, and send that to me? I'm really trying to see if there's anything there that might give me a clue as to what's being generated, if it's as it should be, even aside from the links.
