Re: [SUPERS] My Unofficial Handbook to the DC Universe
According to Supers, it's preferred to have the more expensive form as the base form, but that doesn't always work when "removing the power" (read: negating via the power modifier) leaves Captain Marvel as ten year old Billy Batson.

Sometimes it takes a few months... or even 12 to 14 months... to get something up and running again. >.>

Re: [SUPERS] My Unofficial Handbook to the DC Universe
This is true.... I had a year or more break in the middle of the X-Men in my own thread, as I recall.....

Re: [SUPERS] My Unofficial Handbook to the DC Universe
One use of Jay Garrick's powers as The Flash seems to be missing: his "inner vibration." Most of the time, it's simply used to explain why he doesn't need a mask in his super-hero identity, his features are blurred as a result of his continual "inner vibration." However, there was at least one Silver Age story that indicated that his "inner vibration" does more. The story involved a caveman on another world who had evolved into an intelligence that was more advanced than anyone on Earth. Being lonely, he planned a device that would evolve the rest of his species to his level. To power it, he needed all three Flashes (or two and one Kid Flash at the time). Barry Allen and Wally West were both rendered unconscious at the moment of their arrival on planet as a side effect of the beam. Jay Garrick wasn't, attributing it to his "maintaining an 'inner vibration' which you two don't." IIRC, he went on to state that he'd never been rendered hors de combat by any of the various teleport/dimensional beams/gadgets used.
And not to leave you hanging, the intelligence's device ended up backfiring, devolving him back to a caveman and thereby ending his loneliness. |

Re: [SUPERS] My Unofficial Handbook to the DC Universe
NOTE: I still consider this to be a rough-draft. I haven't decided on any quirks yet, and I'm not sure if this is the version of his powers (and weaknesses) I want to go with. Feedback would be appreciated.
Hero: Sentinel Alias: Alan Scott, Green Lantern I Allies and Affiliations: Justice Society of America, All-Star Squadron, Checkmate Notable Enemies: Harlequin, Solomon Grundy, Vandal Savage, Sky Pirate, Sportsmaster, Thorn Alan Scott was a railway engineer when, in 1940 his life was saved by a mysterious force known as "The Starheart". The Starheart took the form of a green railway lantern and taught Alan how to craft a ring out of the starheart energy which he could control with his will to accomplish nearly anything. Alan Scott called himself "The Green Lantern" and started fighting crime as one of the original heroes of the golden age. Interestingly, Alan Scott was never a member of the Green Lantern Corps, and his power was never derived from the Guardians. The Starheart was a magical being that had been captured and studied by the guardians for millennia before escaping and traveling to earth. After returning from his battle with the parallax in 1990, Alan Scott met Hal Jordan and learned about the Lantern Corps for the first time. Thereafter he changed his name to Sentinel. At this time, Alan also returned to school to study electrical engineering and later established a successful engineering firm. Sentinel has been married two different Supervillains. The first, Thorn (Rose Canton), suffered from dissociative identity disorder--only one of her personalities was evil. They split up when her mental health deteriorated and the Thorn personality returned after years of successful repression. Unbeknownst to Sentinel, Rose Canton gave birth to twins shortly after their break-up and placed them in foster care for their own safety. These grew up to be super-powered and operate under the code-names Jade and Obsidian. Alan's second wife was the anti-villain Harlequin, who's secret identity had been Alan Scott's secretary Molly Mayne, who has turned out to be the love of his life. Some years ago, the starheart had to be destroyed and Sentinel found his powers severely diminished. Since helping to found the JSA, however, he's made a startling discovery--he's become the embodiment of the starheart himself, his body is made out of the green flame energy that powered his abilities for so long. The full implications of this revelation aren't clear yet, but he's more powerful than ever and he no longer needs a ring. Quote:
Alan Scott is a quite competent martial artist who frequently had to rely on this ability in the past. This version of Sentinal has the old golden age weakness against wood. I keep going back and forth about whether I like this or not. His cosmic modular abilities allow him to have 80 points in nearly any advantage whenever he wants! Binding, Control (Energy), and Enhanced Move (Space) are three of the most common uses.
