I also was waiting for this release. Let's see how it is!

Yes, and they are quite handy when you de-orcify them, especially giving an equipment guideline since you know the group wants to loot the bodies.

Actually, I was thinking of the adventuring group minions.

As an example:

Quote:
Artillery Mage
This is a minor magician with a handful of damage-dealing
spells. He typically stands at the back and hurls the occasional
Missile spell.
(stat block not included in this quote)
Not quite templates. Just a few traits, important skills, and major equipment.

I used templates from the draft of this book, straight out of the book, as adversaries and hirelings. The "guard" template is very similar to my basic warrior template, so "guard" plus "orc" is your orc warrior type, "guard" plus "orc" plus "veteran" is your subchief or chief, etc. I used the spellcasting types as cultists in the temple of chaos in my re-run of B2 The Keep on the Borderlands, too. 62-point bargain henchmen have under a 1 second survival span vs. 250 point delvers. Just FYI.

The fun is having the players keep them alive through the encounter. XD

Yeah, it's extremely similar. I know this because I went ahead and shoved Guard and Orc together and got almost exactly the Orc from MotFD (and it came to exactly 62 points, too, which was handy). Only a few skills were off.

Yep, you can do that. Nobody's set up kits yet, but there's nothing more special about equipment.
