As I understand it (well, as of a decade ago), both Hasbro and Mattel were pretty much owned by the same groups of investors ... a left pocket-right pocket sort of thing.

If he offers substantially in excess of market value (like he did for Twitter) he'd probably be able to get it. I doubt he actually wants it, though, and he may have learned from Twitter (he tried to back out of buying Twitter, and Twitter's lawyers wouldn't let him).

There's nothing unbelievable about Hasbro being bought out, it's not that big. Musk, however, has a rather full plate at the moment, so I expect his goal is to make some noise and bully them into making changes he likes, rather than actually becoming responsible for it.
