Default Question on Divisions and winnings

New to the game. My oldest son and I just played our first game from the Car War Bundle #1 this past weekend.

What are the winnings for each division or is it make your own winnings (like salvage and $1000 for winning a division 5 match)? Where can I find more info on the different Arenas (Is there a big map showing their locations) and is there more info on the Divisions?

Officially: It varies with the arena. Big-name places will pay more; the "weekend warrior" facilities will pay less. (I think it's _Car Wars Arenas_ which goes into detail on the topic.)

Arena info is pretty-well-scattered; one would have to look at _ADQ_s, as well as _CW Arenas_, and _L'Outrance Circuit_, for arena data.

Divisions are pretty straightforward: 5; 10; 15; 20; 25; 30; 40; 60; 100. One could do others, if one was so inclined.

Yeah there's no hard rule but in general prize money = total cost of vehicles involved, (except amateur night)

My homebrew:

Racing event - prize money 1/2 cost of vehicles as there's little to no shooting. Event ends when someone crosses the finish line. Very small chance of dying.

Normal Arena - Winner is whoever gets the most kills. Prize money is equal to the cost of the vehicles involved.

Crazy Death Arena - Think deathrace 2000 where the arena can kill you. Prize money is 1.5 times the cost of vehicles.

Amateur Night - salvage only

Example: 3 car Division 5 event. Prize is $15,000 to the winner. This is actually not that great. First, you have to buy your vehicle ($5000) and make repairs after. There's no prize for second place. A good duelist might win every other arena event, so you're spending about $10,000 to make $15,000 and risking death.

But hey it's the apocalypse.

Other rules that could modify this: If you allow vehicles to escape the arena they keep their car. That makes losing less brutal. Winner is whoever has the most kills, not last man standing. This is a good rule as it punishes 'campers' (people who hide).

juris provided a good homebrew for this. I use a different system for custom arenas, but I like to add in quite a bit of roleplaying.
I charge entrants 10% of the division as an entry fee for professional duelling and use the following formula for prizes: number of entrants x division rating x prize level = prize money. I also award prizes depending on the number of entrants: win only for 2-3, win and place for 4-6, win, place and show for 7+ entrants. Prize level for win is $500; place, $300; show, $200.
So, for a Division 20 Brawler's Night with 8 entrants, each entrant pays $2000 ($16000). Winner gets 8x20x500=$80000; 2nd Place gets 8x20x300=$48000; 3rd Place gets 8x20x200=$32000. The other 5 get no prize money. Each entrant gets their own vehicle for salvage or repair, so that they can rebuild for the next event. For purposes of role-playing the arena owner I roll 1d6 and add +1 for each additional event on the night's card: that number times the number of seats x (4 + number of events) covers the gate for the night. I assume that net concessions are half the gate for simplicity. I roll 2d6 to figure out how many entrants per event.
The owner of the arena adds together entry fees and the gate and subtracts prize money awarded to figure out how much is earned from a night's entertainment. Staff pay is (seat/500 x $1000) per event.
Example: Bob's Derby is a relatively small arena with 5000 seats. Bob decides to host a "1-2-3" event with 3 15 minute arena battles, one each in Divisions 10, 20, and 30. Bob rolls a 3, adds 2 for the extra events, and takes in a gate of $150,000. Bob rolls 8, 6, and 3 for entrants. Bob takes in $8000 for the Div 10, $12000 for the Div 20, and $9000 for the Div 30 event in entry fees. The Div 10 pays out $80000; the Div 20 pays out $96000, and the Div 30 pays out $45000. $150000+$75000+$29000-$221000= $33000 gross profits for Bob, who must pay his staff for the night out of that before he gets his share. Bob's staff for the event get $30000, so for all of his work Bob only makes $3000 net. If the local government charges Bob $1000 per event for providing police and ambulance on standby for the night, then Bob only broke even and will have to figure out how to cover his mortgage payments on the arena.
I like to toss in plenty of roleplaying elements when I plan something like Bob's Arena. This adds a bit of randomness and flavor to the arena events so that players will keep coming back to play essentially the same scenario repeatedly. Bob can also come up with additional scenarios for the players; for example, if Bob is struggling he can hire players to hit a convoy for salvage, or escort in a shipment of parts and supplies for the repair bays he plans to install on site for autoduellists to rent.

I seem to remember a Corporate Car Wars article in ADQ that may have had prizes listed?
