Knightmare Chess - definition of check wrpt to turns - e.g. FREEZE and CHAOS
Suppose that FREEZE is in effect. White bishop moves to a square which
threatens the Black king. Is the FREEZE immediately lifted as soon as that White bishop was moved into a place that threatened the Black king? When does check occur and FREEZE get lifted per the text of the FREEZE CARD? Does FREEZE get lifted: 1. immediately when White bishop is moved into a place which threatens the Black king? 2. at the end of White's turn? 3. after White's turn? 4. before Black's turn 5. at the beginning of Black's turn? 6. at the end of Black's turn? Now, let's modify the scenario to add Black playing CHAOS to the mix. Suppose that FREEZE is in effect. White bishop moves to a square which threatens the Black king. If Black plays CHAOS immediately after White's turn, what happens? Was the FREEZE lifted during White's turn so that CHAOS could be played immediately after White's turn? If so, now that the move is cancelled, does the FREEZE also get rolled back and is now still in effect? White now needs to make another move. Now let's modify the scenario to have White play an after move card. Suppose that FREEZE is in play. White bishop moves to a square which threatens the Black king. White wants to play FIREBALL after his move. Can he play the card, or is FREEZE still in effect? Some guidance would be much appreciated. |

FREEZE ends at the end of the move that results in check, or at the resolution of a card play that results in the King being in check. In the example, at the end of White's move: White (or Black) could play an after-move card, such as FIREBALL. CHAOS would cancel the move but would not restore FREEZE or any other previously played continuing effects that happened to end during the turn (although an after-move card such as FIREBALL would be taken back into the player's hand).
