Sorry, it took me some time to get to the SJG forums, but Alden is correct.

Mook's sister Chris had one request of me, to take care of the Unofficial GURPS Discord server... she said "it was his baby".

And yes, any funds received by by GoFundMe will be sent to his sister. I will post more information as I learn it.

This is just...terrible for the community. Just terrible.

Mook was a special guy. We talked a lot of the last couple of years about GURPS and such. We both had a similar chronic ailment and we laughed about it considering their rarity. I'm going to miss him. A lot. I'm not sure who I can run to now when I have an idea and I'm not sure how to implement it. :-(

Very sad to hear this. I didn't know him personally, but you learn a little something about people from their writing too. My sincere condolences to his sister and everyone who knew him better. I hope the fundraiser helps a little with the financial burden, at least.

This is sad. I only know Mook from his writings, but they're great stuff, from the GURPS GM book on down.

He'd probably be pleased if people go on benefitting from his work. If you haven't been to his site lately, take this chance to appreciate anew all the fine game aids he created and offered the world.

Mook points to his eulogy for Gary Gygax as the best introduction to his lifelong love of games. It's a fine read. (If some of the astral cosmology concepts out there are true, maybe the two are settling down to a game right now.)

Do you think his family would be interested in setting up a PO Box for sympathy cards and the like?

Devastating news. Mook was a great ambassador for RPGs and GURPS, just by being him. Truly a great loss.
