Default Trained by a Master - Unarmed only

HI, I READ IN VARIOUS PLACES ABOUT TRAINED BY A MASTER - UNARMED. INCLUDING THIS FORUM BUT I DID NOT FIND ANY OFFICIAL MATERIAL THAT HAS THIS LIMITATION. I LOOKED IN THE BASIC, THE MARCIAL ARTS AND POWERS. SOMEONE KNOWS TO INFORM ME WHERE THIS LIMITATION IS AND WHAT IS ITS VALUE?

As far as I know, it doesn't exist officially. Probably because you would need to make a lot of judgements about benefits of TBAM that are pretty hard to separate (what exactly would it even mean for Invisibility Art or Mental Strength to be "unarmed only"?, would that always apply, or never, and hence disallow learning them). And also because it verges into the limitations that aren't limiting aren't worth points territory (anybody who would take it is probably going to be an unarmed specialist anyway).

As a house rule, if I were going to interpret it quite strictly (i.e. is *wouldn't* allow you to learn Invisibility Art at all etc.) I might be persuaded to allow -20% or so, by analogy to the cost break you get for a "medium" class of weapons for Weapon Master.

It's one of PK's houserules. Not official, but as far as houserules goes it's pretty close.

One possible reference point might be Evasion from Action 3, which seems more limiting to me than Unarmed Only, and is pegged at -50%.

(Also, you probably shouldn't make posts in all-caps. It gives off the wrong tone to your message.)

All of the cinematic skills and techniques for Trained by a Master are unarmed. If you want cinematic skills and techniques for weapons, take Weapon Master.

Afaik, that is wrong.

See Martials Arts p48
I have bolded several cinematic skills allowing armed attack.

Your bolded Skills can be used with weapons (or improvised weapons with Throwing Art) but all but Throwing Art and Zen Archery can be used unarmed as well. So it is only those 2 that he is giving up all together.

As another data point Mundane Background for -10 pts prevents all use of all Cinematic Skills. As a Limitation on TBAM (30pts) that would be -33% so giving up just 2 Skills out of 20 is much smaller.

IMHO this is starting to look like "-xx% for not being able to do these things I wasn't interested in anyway".

I may have misunderstood, but I understood the post I was answering as saying "are for unarmed use only".

I wanted to say that the skills I listed can be used either unarmed or armed (with the obvious exception of throwing and zen archery) !

The question of taking TBAM(unarmed only) usually arise when you buy both TBAM and weapon Master (all).
you then have
TBAM (unarmed)
TBAM (armed) : basically useless, everything is covered by WM
WM(all)
