Default Heroic Spellslinger and Limited-use staffs

In the new Delvers to Grow book comes a bunch of awesome advantages, one being Heroic Spellslinger.

Heroic Spellslinger allows you to add your spellcasting talent ro your innate attack (projectile) skill.

If you use a wand of missiles from limited-use items in Magic 1, you add your magery as a bonus.

If you both possess a wand of missiles and heroic spellslinger, do you then get both bonusses?

I wouldn't allow it.

I wouldn't add Magery (or other spellcasting talent) twice, just as stacking Trained by a Master and Weapon Master doesn't further reduce rapid strike penalties.

What I think I'd do is add the Acc of missile spells plus your Magery if you possess both traits, but I wouldn't add Magery twice. In general in GURPS, you never count the bonuses from a trait if you possess it twice.

Yeah, except Fencing Weapons and Weapon Master does stack to a -1 for cumulative parries.

Heroic Spellslinger already adds acc from spells. While I definitely think the double bonus would be pretty broken, it seems like it kinda sucks getting an advantage that makes a good item obsolete.

Maybe have it work like the Quick Aim enchantment then - get max aiming in a single instant.

Different bonus sources though, one's intrinsic to the weapon and one's intrinsic to the character. With wands they're maintaining the Magery bonus that's standard with regularly cast spells, as well as scrolls and other items that allow a user to cast through them. Keep in mind that if the wand is Druidic or Holy as its power source then you wouldn't get the power source, BUT the Heroic Spellcaster bonus would then apply because it's no longer double-dipping the bonus.

Not at all, for one the wands could have a different power source in which case Heroic Spellcaster will give extra versatility. Second, many wands are self-powered so even if you can't double-dip the bonus you're still holding an item that can cast a spell 60-odd times without taxing your FP/EP reserves.
