Kumar: "Could you let us talk it over?"

Luisa nodds.

Kumar walks behind the stump: "Ok, she thinks we work the patrol. On the one hand, perhaps the best route out of this is to take the offer and just head back. On the other, she certainly considers you a person, if we want to go with the real story."

"I would just tell her th truth. And I would have already, except that I don't want to get you into trouble. I don't know your laws and rules and stuff... One night I'm going to have one of my crazy dreams and wake up somewhere else, and you'll be left holding a bag of lies. I'm sorry I put you in this position Kumar."

Kumar "I put myself in this situation. We didn't have to help you out, but we did, because that's who we are."

Kumar: "Luisa, I'll say what's really going on. Peter is a parachronic we're concealing from the patrol. He randomly showed up on mammoth-3. We don't want him to become a specimin."

Luisa: "And you didn't say that the first time because..."

Kumar: "Because I still think you're likely to report this."

Lusia pauses. "Why should I believe is this the true one?"

Kumar: "At this point, would any story be believable?"

Luisa: "Documentation would be nice. This would be easier if we had more vehicles. Then we could split up."

"There's no documentation... you guys couldn't even find my world. What's so scary about a kid and a dog that has you freaking out and waving guns around anyway?" Peter still tries to keep to the cover somewhat. She seems calmer now, but this chick is clearly super-crazy.

Luisa: "What's scary about criminals operating in a non-profit organization? What's scary about human trafficers? What's scary about a government that reports to a company striving to maintain its monopoly on the largest trade empire ever seen across hundreds of worlds? Leave me out of your criminal activities."

To Peter's ears, this is nothing but a string of paranoid non-sense, a thought he expresses by rotating his pointed finger in a circle orbiting his ear and saying...

"Cuckoo... Cuckoo!"

Kumar looks at Peter like he's the one that's crazy.

Luisa slowly steps away from the two of them while pointing her gun. "Elena!" She calls out.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Do these seem like reasonable concerns to you?"

He steps out from behind the cover and turns toward Luisa and speaks up so she can hear him...

"C'mon lady, do you really think me and my dog are some sort of government agents or human traffickers? Really? pull yourself together... you're putting us all in danger acting like this in the field."

"Get back behind your tree or I fire! One, Two..."

Peter steps back.

His mind races...

Either his being there is at least somewhat reasonable, and Luisa is an extremely dangerous whack-job...

Or Kumar bringing him here is totally unreasonable, which would make him an idiot at best or what's worse...up to something...

Am I being human trafficked or something?
