I'm pretty sure INWO can be found inexpensively at many online clearance type sites. But yea, it's a CCG beast.

If you two like Chess I recommend Knightmare chess 2 and Tile Chess

Both Wonderfull Chess variants for 2 or more players

Yeah, I'm not sure on the Chess route. We have Knightmare Chess 2 on the shelf. Tile Chess looks interesting, though. I've also seen Proteus, which looks pretty interesting indeed, but that appears to be OOP at the moment.

Thanks!

yeah.. I'm trying to get a KC1 then I'm going to try getting a proteus.. but as I see it, I'm better off making one. Even harder to find then those KC1.

Oh, I've been playing the chez series with 2 players. The more the merrier (until 5.. 4 is optimum) but two made me laugh.. a lot. It's not a deep game... more of a party game with adult humor.

Or more precisely immature adult humor.

S.P.A.N.C. plays well enough with 2, as does Hacker. Both scale to at least 5+

Plus there's Car Wars... road duels are excellent 2p scenarios. And Arena duels are excellent 3-8 player.

I've found INWO doesn't play as well in 2p as in 4p... ironically, I've played 2p, 4p, 5p, and 6p INWO, but never 3p.

Awful Green Things is pretty classic wargame... but I've had constant issues with the counters being too thin to work with. It doesn't scale well, tho'. It can handle 3 or 4 ok if one player runs the GT's, and the others split the crew.

Unlikely to be a problem with the new edition.

Definitely not. I played with the new components when I was in Austin, and they were nice. Thick, colorful, and very well-made. I currently own the old "VHS-tape" version of the game, and there's no comparison.

If you are interested, keep an eye out for the One With Everything INWO collection online. Released in the 1990s, it includes every card released for the game prior to Assassins and Church of the Subgenius. Some of the cards require special handling to use (unless you have doubles of them available or make them), but it's still a fun 2-player game, even if some of the political humor is slightly dated by now.

The Chez series are definitely viable games two-player, although it is true that the more players you have, the better the game.

I haven't played INWO. I spent way too much money on CCGs in the 1990s (Spellfire, as it turns out - TSR's dozy response to Magic the Gathering) and so I was initially leery of any card games at all. Later on, I got into Munchkin and Chez Geek because they're not collectible games. INWO looks fun but I'll likely be giving that one a permanent pass.

And if you do get this and want to get straight into play without spending time making up your own decks, I put together a One With Everything set of nine decks which won a SJ Games competition - you can find it here. There's also an alphabetical list of cards by type here.
