Sonic Strike - "Single player expansion" ?

On the Sonic Strike order page it lists the description as, "

Sonic Strike is a single-player expansion for Car Wars Sixth Edition that comes with 40 ALL-NEW cards to add to your collection. Use sonic weapons to bring your opponents to a screeching halt. Say hello to six new Crew members and take advantage of their unique abilities. Need to grab a bite? The new Grilled Cheese Dispenser will help keep you going until the battle is won. Make the arena your own with Sonic Strike!

This is an expansion for Car Wars Sixth Edition. It is not a stand-alone game.

Is this correct? Is it a single-player expansion? I don't see a mention on Rules Insert for the product.

"Single-player expansion" means that the box contains only 2 copies of each weapon, 4 copies of each structure, and 1 copy each of any crew, equipment, or upgrade. I.e. enough cards for one player to use the included equipment.

If you host games and are providing all the cards for more than one player, and you expect they'll both want to use particular items from the expansion simultaneously, you'll want two or more copies.

All of the new expansion packs coming out in late 2024 / early 2025 are single-player (the number of cards we would normally assign to one player in a set) packs.

With the addition of the new Orange/Purple starter set, there are 6 possible core set colors, so any 4-color expansions would leave out someone's core set. Going forward with a neutral color for the expansion sets, and allowing people to get as many or as few as they'd like for their personal setup are among the reasons we've switched to this new format for expansions.

While we never say never or talk about unannounced products, we don't currently have any four-player expansion sets announced on the schedule.

TO: Expansion name is an expansion for Car Wars Sixth Edition for a single combatant.
