Senior Chief Julio Wu, formerly Master Chief, Terran Navy, Marines, does not at first sight appear the troubled man he is. Big, strong, good looking, gifted with the voice of a tenor, he looks like he should be walking the sunny side of life. But a gloomy shadow from the past seems to follow him. He served with the Terran Navy Marines as a technical specialist, Entry and Obstacle Removal. Inofficially he also served as a translator, due to his obvious knack for the Vilani language. Early in the war, his ship, the Sweyn Forkbeard, a commerce raider, was preying deep behind the enemy lines. It didnīt take long for disaster to strike - they ran into a trap. According to the log that eventually reached Terra some radio source on the ship broke communication silence and altered the Imperial Navy. The Sweyn Forkbeard gave a good, but desparate fight. Only a few crew members survived the destrcution of the craft, Wu among them. Instead of taken prisoner, a high ranking Vilani officer forced him into his service as a personal valet and translator. This experience and the following years in Vilani service, surrounded by enemies, without any chance to escape, left him mentally scarred. It was only the invasion of Nusku that freed him from servitude.

He doesnīt talk about the time before. And it looks like he is actively trying to forget, as if some terrible secret haunts him. The method employed is quite traditional: people have been drinking to forget for millenia. This has already begun to take its toll on his body. Its plain to see that he hasnīt been this chubby before. And although he sings rather beautifully, having him sing to himself during work in High Vilani is rather annoying. Years pf exposal to Vilani culture seem to have effected him: he does things by the book and isnīt particularily interested in anything else.

Despite all this, his inside knowledge of Vilani culture and language is invaluable and very hard to find or acquire. Additionally, he knows his way around a starship, with the specialty of making his way, by blowing things up either from the inside, or, being crosstrained as a gunner, from the outside. Also, a Marine technician is still a Marine.

Alright! Second character done. The background is pretty sketchy, so I'm going to try to work on it tomorrow. But stats wise, he's pretty much done. I've also done a few modification to Sharmina's character sheet. I'll update her CS on the wiki and the crew roster.

The main differences are:
-Took Jealousy out
-Toned the reputation down a bit (recognition frequency)
-Took Code of Honor out
-Added Fanaticism (Terran Patriot)
-Added Workaholic
-Skills: Took Current Event (Politics) out

Mister Juan, please put the Hearing Transcript in spoiler blocks, ok? At the beginning type:

Only leave the Capital Xs out to get it to work right.

You can block a lot of that story out with a [Xspoiler=character history] spoiler, and that way it'll still be there so we can see it, but it won't be taking up space in the rogues' gallery if we're looking for a different character, or even stats instead of history. ;-)

Let us simply say that both are linked with his Compulsive Gambling... and the fact that he's also Easy to Read means he doesn't win that often ;)

What? He lost his eye in a poker game? :-D Mister Juan looks good to me, too, btw, so stick him in the Crew Roster. Looks like the roster is shaping up well. Are there any issues with which a GM can assist, or is it all pesky software stuff? YUK!

I'm submitting this for inspection by the crew and GM:

I've got two trains of thought for the steward. 1 is a semi-regular businessman who is caught up in (what appears to be, anyway) a crew of crazies. His incompetence:Guns makes sense and I'll scale the martial arts way back (a single school, but fairly deep into said school, with a focus on the 'flashier', but less effective techniques used in kata demonstrations rather than raw, killing power). He probably wouldn't hit the disad limit and he'd definitely be far more sane than my captain.

The second option is a deep undercover operative with trading as his cover. He'd have a big secret in his disads as well as a Duty should the war come up (which could draw the crew into some interesting adventures...). His martial arts would be less flashy and more a mix of a variety of schools intended to maximize pain in a minimal amount of time. He'd still have incompetence:Guns. I wanted to play him this way at first, but the idea of a normal guy with a relatively mundane background kinda strikes me a fun given eccentricity of the current crew list.

Eccentric?? THIS crew?? You're JOKING, right? :-)

Seriously, both backgrounds sound good to me. I'm just afraid that if you play the 'normal' version and stay well-under the disad limit then you won't be able to buy enough goodies for him to bring him up to the competency/power level of the rest of the crew. And I think we all know that RPing 'normal' people is only somewhat fun for a little while, at best. ;-)

But, if you're just looking for a 'warm body' to fill the crew position while you concentrate like 90% of your roleplaying efforts on your other character, then, yeah, this may be the way to go. You could put this dude on 'autopilot' for extended periods without having to worry about him getting into trouble over his head or anything. (He might be sort of an NPC PC almost?) (Or, then again, maybe I'm missing your point altogether. My apologies, if that is so.)

Given the background, it is likely that there is some undercover agent on board. This way we know at least who it is ... that way the other agent can work more efficiently. :)
