Is there some obscure reason to not use the proper advantage?

Obscure works in a zone.
I don't want a character dampening odors.

Invisibility. Just use the special effect that it makes you invisible to smell rather than sight; there's no difference in point cost (as can be seen in the Obscure advantage). EDIT: Note that this is the same price as Obscure 10 (Scent; Defensive, +50%, Stealthy, +100%; Always On, -50%) [40].

Personally, I'd be happier if the Invisibility advantage didn't exist and you just used Obscure for it instead. Would make things fit together nicer.

AFAIK this is not the same thing. Stealthy means that people don't get to add your Obscure level to their Per to notice something is off in the zone, but they still get a roll.

They don't get a roll if you have Obscure 10.

No, not the roll to see/smell the character. The roll to see/smell that something is obscuring normal vision/scents.

Ah, that's true. Getting rid of it is almost certainly an equal-cost modifier to that required to make Obscure not be an area-effect, though, making taking out both a 0-cost feature.
