It may say somethign about me that I read the 'Gurps" part of GGGS butt here were some interesting things.

Soem things like the creation of Academics are really just organisational but (in harmony with the included comic) within Academics, History, Law and Mathematics have "regressed" to their 3e definitions (i.e. no mass of mandatory Specializations).

This might actually constitute progress. :)

There were some ther streamlining measures.

My copy came today. And I got the Fortean Times as well. May 16th has its charms.

Mine came in the mail as well, nicely packaged in bubble-wrap and an oversized cardboard box.

The cover is what I expected, but the tactile feel of the matte-coating is just lovely. I consider it as good a cover from that perspective as Symbaroum, which has been my gold standard for such things.

I'm sure when my daughter shows up from school in 20 minutes she'll confiscate it from me and read it cover-to-cover.

Mine arrived today as well, and that oversized box and bubble-wrap were probably the only thing that saved it. The box mine came in was slightly bent and crushed, but the book is in perfect condition.

Any suggestions on how to build a social Spark?

Like Mittelmind but a bit less dead?

I think the Spark's bonus to Influence checks would be rather useful.

Just a note, I did take my shiny new book to gaming today but everyone else was already deep in chargen for another game and I got only a few "ooohs".

Everyone else should not let this discourage them from taking their shiny new books to geek gatherings.
