OP's setting is already accommodating that, slow courier ships - so the PCs might just be the only help available for months or years. Frontier worlds so PCs might also be the 'highest tech' around, or if not, they're likely on par with the "big guns" that can be called in from large cities/towns.


The OP's setting feels like an expansive Firefly setting, but with more worlds spaced farther apart.
