Siege Tower: A siege tower has two stats - weight to determine how many men are needed to roll it up to the castle walls, and how much damage it can take determined by its construction.

Siege towers are usually constructed out of wood (instead of stone or metal, if it's too heavy and it won't move). But wood is vulnerable to fire spells, you could cover it in wet cloth but how do you keep the cloth wet during the battle? The other way to protect the tower is to cover it with thin sheets of bronze or iron which stops hits like armor.

The tower is used to get warriors over the wall into the city or castle without the dangers associated with climbing ropes or ladders.

Undermining/countermining: This is done by Sappers who are conscripted miners. The main talent needed is of course Mining, but an NCO or officer with Engineering is also needed to keep the tunnel from collapsing. Also useful is someone with Acute Hearing to listen for the sounds of enemy mining operations or burrowing monsters through the rock.

Sappers if they wear armor only uses cloth or leather but usually do without, if you hit a pocket of water, gas or a wandering monster you want to get out of the tunnel in a hurry. As for weapons usually only daggers and Miner's picks (ITL 67) and if wide enough maybe short swords.

If you allow gunpower weapons, then Sappers have access to petards that they can position and exploded under strategic points.
