(IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

A dead guy walking around... but he didn't seem like a bad person... But he has to sacrifice people to live, and you can't do that and be good... Something has to be done!

Peter wanders for a while, deep in thought, and utterly confused about what to do.

Peter is in the woods for quite some time. Goliath walks along side of him, looking up quizzically from time to time. Peter almost doesn't notice when he comes upon the ruins of a different village. This village is abandoned and overgrown. Some parts of it were burned at one point, including the church, which has no ward around it.

Peter is grateful for the distraction when it breaks him from his reverie.

He reaches out with his "meta-sense", can he sense anything here? Or Helmut in pursuit?

If Helmut is still following him, he will turn to confront him.

Otherwise, he will explore this place.

Helmut didn't follow. The sources of magic are still the same... except that the beast is now gone. This area doesn't have any magic... at least not any more. The church probably had it at one point. Peter finds the graveyard. Half of it is marked with simple graves, all seemingly at the same time. scratched into each stone is a name and the symbol Gerwin used in his ritual.

The homes are picked pretty bare, except for one. Its been burned, but lots of stuff seem to still be in there: bedding, pots, and who knows what else.

Peter gathers the bedding and makes a little nest for himself and Goliath... he considers camping out here rather than returning to the the village tonight, not wanting to face Helmut and the realities that entails. (what time of day is it now?)

He thinks about how he spoke of magic all coming form somewhere... Peter wasn't sure he agreed, but it got him to thinking about the nature of his own abilities. He decides to try and reach IN with his meta-sense rather than outwardly... His sense sometimes gives little details into the nature of what he is perceiving, but he's never really tried to analyze himself... he gives it a try.

Its late morning.



Peter focuses on himself... And senses nothing. Though he's analyzed so-called Gods before and sensed nothing. He tries a little harder, and thinks he can pick up something small and subtle ... maybe the act of touching and analyzing magic has its own signature. He usually only picks up active effects, not beings that can use magic.

Here I thought he had a full day and Peter might be able to move on to the next world without having to deal with Helmut.

I guess there is no point in avoiding it. Peter will have to go and confront Helmut. He has to convince him to confess his situation to his brother and deal with it. Helmut can't be allowed to lurk in the village to prey upon whoever as often as it may be necessary. As it is, Peter is now concerned the best reason Helmut could have for keeping Peter around is to make him his next "sacrifice".

I forgot to account for the abandoned village. Its early afternoon. If Peter wants to stay late in the ruined village, he can.

Indeed. Peter's conscience will not allow him to suffer a vampire living among innocents.

Peter will seek him out and try to confront him in a public place where people will see if he just starts attacking him, but away from any groups that would overhear them.

"You need to address this... You can't just kill people. You're in an impossible position and filled with dark mojo, but somehow I feel like you're not bad, just making some really big mistakes. Maybe your brother and I can figure out a way to use our magic to fix you. As it is you are betraying your brother, your home, and yourself, every day."

Peter returns, and tries to find Helmut. He's able to find him out in a field, digging a ditch with his borther Gerwin. Helmut has dug a lot, but hasn't really broken that much of a sweat. Gerwin is drenched with water from the hard work. A couple of people are moving rocks from a field nearby, and some more are weaving something out of wicker.



When Peter asks if he can have a word with Helmut, Helmut urges his brother to stop and catch his breath, and then they walk a few dozen feet into a field of some sort of crop, careful not to step on anything.


Helmut hisses in a vigorous whisper: "What's the other choice? If the magic goes away I wind up dead! or more dead! gone. And I'm not betraying them. I just saved all their lives, and I'm not going to kill any of them! Right now my balance looks good for the first time in months."


"Do you actually have a way that you know for certainly will bring me back?"
